Clutches will eventually wear out as your car gets older and this will happen if you change gears more often. If your clutch is worn out, you will most likely need to replace the clutch plate.

Symptoms of a worn out clutch:

• Engine revving up and the car generating very little power
• Car occasionally “slipping” out of gear for no reason. This is caused by your gear suddenly disengaging meaning your clutch is worn out and needs replacing
• Oil leaking onto the clutch plate. This can cause your clutch to slip or have sudden jerking movements
• Burning smell coming from underneath the car. This can happen if you are in heavy traffic and ride the clutch and only engage it to slowly move forward in small distances. Doing this over a long period can cause your clutch to overheat and eventually wear out
